How to cancel your subscription

Learn how to cancel your subscription, with additional information on refunds, reactivations, and accounts provided by institutions.

You can cancel your Perlego subscription at any time in a few steps.

Good to know

  • You can only cancel on the Perlego website — not in the Perlego app. This includes using a mobile browser (Safari or Chrome) on iOS or Android.

  • After you cancel, you'll keep full access until the end of your current paid billing cycle.

  • You'll receive a cancellation confirmation email once it's done.

What happens after you cancel

  • You won't be charged again — your subscription won't renew unless you reactivate.

  • You'll keep full access until the end of your current paid billing cycle. For example, if your billing date is the 13th of each month and you cancel on 14 January, you'll have access until 12 February.

  • While cancelled, you can still sign in, browse the library, and save books to My Bookshelves — but you won't be able to open any books until you reactivate.

  • Downloaded books are only accessible while your subscription is active.

  • Your reading progress, notes, Highlights, and lists are saved. They'll all be right where you left them if you reactivate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get a refund?

Refunds aren't automatic. If you're within our 14-day policy, contact support via live chat or email [email protected]. See our refund policy for full details.

Can I reactivate later?

Yes. Sign in, go to Subscription settings, select Reactivate, and confirm your payment details.

Can I pause instead of cancelling?

Can I switch plans instead of cancelling?

Can I delete my account too?

Yes — but cancel your subscription first. Note that deleting your account is permanent and you'll lose all saved data (notes, Highlights, lists, and progress). See: Delete your account.

How can I be sure it was cancelled?

Check for a cancellation confirmation email from Perlego. If you don't see one (including in spam/junk), contact support via live chat or email [email protected]

What do subscription renewal emails mean?

They're reminders that your subscription is nearing renewal.

  • If you want it to renew, no action is needed.

  • If you don't wish to be charged again, cancel before the renewal date.

I have a university/institution-provided subscription — can I cancel?

Institution-provided access can't be cancelled from your Perlego settings. Your access typically expires automatically after a year (unless your institution states otherwise). If you need access removed sooner, contact the organisation that provided your account and ask them to revoke access. Learn more: My institution provided subscription has ended.

Troubleshooting

If you have a university or institution-provided subscription

Institution-provided access can't be cancelled from your Perlego settings — it usually expires automatically after a year. If you need it removed sooner, contact the organisation that set up your account and ask them to revoke your access. You won't be charged for institution-provided access unless you choose to start a paid subscription after it ends. Learn more: My institution provided subscription has ended.

If you can't see the Cancel subscription option

  • Make sure you're using the Perlego website — not the app.

  • Check you're signed into the correct account. If you're prompted to pay or reactivate, there's no active subscription on that account.

  • Search your email inboxes (including spam/junk) for Perlego receipts, renewal notices, or subscription confirmations to identify which account was charged.

  • Check your bank statement for Perlego charges — this can help confirm which email address was used.

  • If you still can't locate your subscription, contact support with your full name, email address(es), the last 4 digits of the card charged, and the date and amount of the last transaction.

If you were charged after cancelling

First, confirm you cancelled on the Perlego website — not via the app, app store settings, or by unsubscribing from marketing emails. Then contact support via live chat or [email protected] with your name, email address, card details (last 4 digits, card type, expiry), and the transaction date and amount.

We're sorry to see you go. If there's anything that didn't work for you, we'd love to hear it — your feedback helps us improve Perlego for everyone.
