Frequently Asked Questions

Can I cancel in the app?

No. You need to cancel on the Perlego website (including a mobile browser). App store rules mean cancellation isn’t available inside the Perlego app.

How can I be sure it was cancelled?

Check for a cancellation confirmation email from Perlego. If you don’t see one (including in spam/junk), contact support via live chat or email [email protected]

Can I have a refund?

Refunds are not automatic and must be processed by our support team. If you’re within our 14-day policy, contact support via live chat or email [email protected]

Can I delete my account as well?

Yes — but cancel your subscription first.

Note: Deleting your account is permanent. You’ll lose saved data (such as lists, notes, highlights, and progress) and it can’t be recovered.

Steps to delete your account (after cancelling):

  1. Go to your account Settings on the website: Account settings

  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page

  3. Select Delete account

Can I reactivate later?

Yes. Sign in, go to Subscription settings, select Reactivate, and confirm your payment details.

What happens to my reading progress, lists, highlights, and notes if I cancel?

Once you reactivate, your saved notes, highlights and so forth will all be right where you left them.

While cancelled, you can still sign in and view your account and continue saving books to My Bookshelves for later, but you won’t be able to open any books while your subscription is inactive.

Can I keep reading books I downloaded after cancelling?

No — downloaded books are only available while you have an active subscription. You can reactivate at any time to regain access.

Can I pause my subscription instead of cancelling?

Can I switch plans instead of cancelling?

What do subscription renewal emails mean?

They’re reminders that your subscription is nearing renewal.

  • If you want it to renew, no action is needed.

  • If you don’t wish to be charged again, cancel your subscription settings before the renewal date.

I have a university/institution-provided subscription — can I cancel?

Institution-provided access can’t be cancelled from your Perlego settings. Your access typically expires automatically after a year (unless your institution states otherwise).

If you need access removed sooner, contact the organisation that provided your account and ask them to revoke access.

Troubleshooting

University or organisation-provided subscription

If your access was provided by a university or institution, you can’t cancel it in Perlego. Your access will usually expire automatically after a year (unless your institution says otherwise).

If you need access removed sooner, contact the organisation that set up your account and ask them to revoke your access.

Note: You won’t be charged for an institution-provided account unless you choose to renew with a paid subscription after your free access ends.

Make sure you’re on the website (not the app)

You can only cancel on the Perlego website — not in the Perlego app.

Try another email address

If you don’t see a cancellation option, you may be signed into the wrong account (or an account without an active subscription).

  1. Check for payment prompts

    • If you’re asked to pay or reactivate, there’s no active subscription on this account.

    • If you want, you can delete an unused account from the bottom of Settings by selecting Delete account.

  2. Search your email inboxes (including spam/junk) for Perlego emails

    • Look for subscription confirmations, renewal notices, or receipts.

  3. Check your bank statement

    • If you see Perlego charges, this can help you identify which account/email was used.

Still can’t find your subscription?

Contact support via live chat or email: [email protected]. If possible, include:

  • email address(es) you may have used

  • full name on the account (or payment method)

  • date and amount of the last charge

  • last 4 digits of the card charged

  • any receipt/invoice IDs you can find

I’ve been charged after cancelling

First, confirm you cancelled from the Perlego website (not the app, app store settings, phone settings, or by unsubscribing from marketing emails).

Then contact support via live chat or [email protected] with:

  • full name (or name on the account)

  • email address linked to the account

  • last 4 digits of the card charged

  • date and amount of the transaction

  • card type (Visa/Mastercard, etc.)

  • card expiry date

Tip: it may also help to check whether you have another Perlego account under a different email address.
